Safeguarding at Ner Yisrael
Ner Yisrael’s Safeguarding Statement
At Ner Yisrael Synagogue, we are committed to providing a safe and secure environment for all members, visitors, and particularly vulnerable individuals who engage with our community. We understand the importance of safeguarding and take our responsibilities seriously.
Our synagogue follows a robust Safeguarding Policy that aligns with local legal requirements and best practices. We strive to ensure that all individuals associated with our community, including employees, volunteers, and contractors, are aware of their responsibilities in promoting the well-being and protection of others.
Key elements of our safeguarding practices include:
Safer Recruitment: We implement rigorous recruitment processes that include background checks, reference verification, and interviews to assess the suitability of individuals working or volunteering with vulnerable populations. We are committed to following fair, transparent, and equal opportunity recruitment procedures.
Training and Awareness: We provide regular safeguarding training to all staff, volunteers, and relevant stakeholders. This training covers identifying signs of abuse, reporting procedures, and maintaining appropriate boundaries to prevent harm. We encourage open communication and the sharing of concerns related to safeguarding issues.
Reporting and Responding: We have established clear reporting mechanisms and procedures for anyone who suspects or witnesses abuse, neglect, or harm within our community. We take all allegations seriously and respond promptly, ensuring appropriate actions are taken to safeguard individuals and involve the relevant authorities when necessary.
Confidentiality and Privacy: We respect the confidentiality and privacy of individuals involved in safeguarding matters. Information is shared on a need-to-know basis, strictly adhering to data protection laws and ensuring sensitive information is securely stored.
Safeguarding Culture: We strive to foster a culture of safeguarding within our community by promoting awareness, understanding, and open dialogue. We actively encourage individuals to share any concerns they may have and provide support to those affected by safeguarding issues.
Ner Yisrael Synagogue is committed to continuously reviewing and improving our safeguarding practices to ensure the well-being and protection of all individuals within our community. We encourage open feedback and engagement from our members, visitors, and stakeholders to help us maintain a safe and inclusive environment.
